Prof. Dr. Djordje (George) Paunovic has been elected for IEEE Region 8 Vice-Chair for Technical Activities.

Professor of Belgrade Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Djordje (George) Paunovic has been elected for the position of IEEE Region 8 Vice-Chair for Technical Activities at the IEEE Region 8 Meeting held on October 14-15, 2006 in Belgrade, Serbia, after winning majority of votes of all section chairs (50 Sections from IEEE Region 8 - Europe, Africa and Middle East) and IEEE officers. Other candidate was Prof. Dr. Victor Hanna from France. The term period is 2007-2008.

        His position statement was:

Without any doubt IEEE is a mighty organization, but also the organization whose effectiveness could be considerably improved. IEEE technical activities are the essence of IEEE existence. Having a considerable experience in IEEE and other professional organizations technical activities, I have a strong personal feeling that I could probably help R8 to successfully improve its practices in technical activities, not only in the best, but also in all! I also think that it is worth trying to improve even the best existing practices! Not going up very often means that you are probably very near to the down slope!

The IEEE Serbia and Montenegro Section is proud of having Prof. Dr. Djordje (George) Paunovic at such a high position and congratulate him.
